StephOS
The system
behind the work.
StephOS is my human-centered approach to AI, and the tools I've built on it. It started as a necessity: I needed AI that could keep up with long, complex work without inventing things or taking decisions away from me.
AI should expand human capability, not replace human agency.
Everything in StephOS is tested against that sentence. In practice, it means a few principles I don't trade away:
Truth before agreement
An honest "I don't know" beats a confident invention.
Judgment stays human
AI can propose, search and draft. Decisions and approvals belong to the person.
Originals are evidence
Summaries point back to what was actually said. Nothing silently replaces its source.
Reduce friction, keep depth
Complexity first: refine it, don't decorate simplicity. The detail is there when you ask for it.
Knowledge compounds
Work should be easier to resume tomorrow than it was to start today.
Leave people more capable
Every interaction should leave the person understanding more, not depending more.
What's built,
and what's next.
StephOS is a working system I use every day, and a set of ideas still in progress. Here's where each part honestly stands.
Recorder
A local, evidence-first record of every conversation. The original messages are the authority; nothing derived replaces them.
In daily useArchives
Saved ideas and reviewed work, linked to their sources, saved only when the person says so.
In daily useNyxen
The assistant. Recalls what it's been permitted to, shows its sources on request, and records progress without approving anything on its own.
In daily useRealm
A spatial workspace for complex ideas, prototyped in the browser and then natively, and reframed from a world to explore into a workspace to inhabit.
PrototypeThe living map
An interactive constellation of the ideas, decisions and evidence behind StephOS.

On holdThe method.
Six movements, with no fixed order and an open centre. You can begin anywhere. You are allowed not to know yet, and incomplete does not mean irrelevant.
The thread through all of it: refine complexity; don't decorate simplicity.
